History of Autogyros in the UK

This lecture covers the development of Autogyros in the UK in anumber of stages:

• The pioneering activities of Juan De La Cierva and others, demonstrating the important contribution these made to

the subsequent technical development of the helicopter.

• The post-war development of light autogyros in the UK, initially inspired by the designs of Igor Bensen,

originating in the United States.

• A short review of several relatively recent designs, which have been produced in comparatively large numbers.

• Flight safety, where recent changes in regulations, based on research conducted in the UK, have resulted in a

significantly improved flight safety record.

The bowls club bar will be open for refreshments during the evening, parking available on site.

CPD certificates of attendance will be endorsed for CEng, IEng or EngTech
