Bentwaters Cold War Museum

The museum is based in the former USAF hardened command post, the only such type of museum regularly open to the public in Europe. With several rooms restored to original condition the museum captures the atmophere of it’s past, other rooms and buildings have been converted to display exhibits that span the life of the airfield from its opening in WWII until closure in 1993.

Further rooms focus on near by installations, including RAF Woodbridge, known as Bentwaters ‘Twin Station’, Orfordness and Sheperds Grove with displays and memorabilia from the various units staioned there, in particular the 81st Fighter Wing

A retro feel American Diner is available for some classic US refreshments during your visit

Disabled Access - disabled access is difficult but not impossible. A couple of rooms are inaccessable with a wheelchair but can be viewed via the doorway. There are no disabled toilets on site as wheelchairs do not fit through the original toilet doorway structures.
